SWEN knows you. It knows it all. We’ve
always wanted to have that news app that looked beautiful, was clutter free,
neatly organized and more importantly intelligent. Intelligent enough to
personalize the user’s home feed, to produce the news he needs, the news he
likes.
Unlike other apps which seeks the user’s
interest in the beginning, SWEN tries to find and understand the user’s
interests by analysing the things he does within the app.
BEAUTIFULLY MATERIAL
Right from the moment we got the problem,
we had one thing in mind; to build a beautiful app following the Material
Design Guidelines provided by Google and we’ve managed to achieve that in every
part of SWEN.

HI TO COLOURS
One of the main principles of Material
design is Bright Colours. We at evadi, have managed to choose the perfect
palette of colours to describe the news categories visually. The app seriously
looks good with bright colours.
CLUTTER
FREE NEWS FEED
No one would ever want to use an app just
because it looks beautiful. The contents have to be well organized too. With
SWEN, we’ve managed to achieve a clutter free design by using Cards to display
news rather than using lists. We’ve also divided the app into 8 activities to
make it look more organized.
The 8 activities are:
1. Home: The
main activity. Provides a personalized feed consisting of news from all the
other categories.
2. Top News: Provides
all important, ground breaking news.
3. National: Provides
all the national news.
4. International: All
International news are presented here.
5. Regional: All
the regional news are presented here.
6. Business: All
the business news are provided here.
7. Sports: Sports
news are displayed here.
8. Entertainment: The
place for all entertainment news.
NEWS
VIEW – A new way to read news articles
Let’s face it. The ads present in and
around the articles in webpages annoys the reader. A LOT. And often the ads are
so very distracting and large that that the user finds it hard to find the
article itself. We at evadi didn’t want to spoil the user experience by just
rendering the webpage as it is. Rendering the webpages would just put the same
content (with ads) in a smaller screen. It makes it more difficult to read the
article. So we sat and thought about it for a while and came up with this
amazing concept of News View. News
View parses the webpages and displays only the content that matters to the user
i.e. it displays only the title, author, image (if any) and the article in a
beautiful interface. We’ve also added the ability to share the news articles
right from News View.
No pop ups, no ads, nothing. Just the article. And that’s News View.

BOOKMARKS
– Save now, Read anytime.
We’ve all come across times when we wanted
to read to read an article but didn’t because of lack of time, or due to some
other work. This is a real problem because the internet gets updated every
millisecond and after a few minutes, it’ll be impossible to find the article we
wanted to read. To tackle this problem, we’ve come up with BOOKMARKS. With
BOOKMARKS you can save the article right from the News View to read it later.
The saved articles can be found at the BOOKMARK page.
SWEN is our most ambitious project yet. We'll be updating the app frequently enough with improved versions of the app. SWEN will be available as a free download from the play store(INDIA ONLY) from 11 April, 2015 onwards.
